Pride End Ducks Season

NASHUA, NH – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Nashua Pride 4-3 in Game Three of the North Division Playoffs at historic Holman Stadium on Thursday night. The Pride will head to Somerset to open the Atlantic League Championship Series against the Patriots on Friday night at 7:05 p.m.

With the game tied at three in the home half of the ninth, Brian Becker gave Nashua the walk-off win with a solo home run to left.

 

The Ducks took a 3-2 lead in the sixth on a solo homer by Manny Martinez to right, but Nashua tied it at three in the home half of the frame on a home run by Glenn Murray.

 

Game One starter Denny Harriger (1-0) picked up the win after tossing a scoreless ninth inning. Lance Davis (0-1) took the loss after yielding four runs (three earned) on eight hits while striking out eight in 8.1 innings of work. Pride starter Pete Hartmann did not factor into the decision after striking out seven over six innings.

 

The Ducks bats produced eight hits on the evening, led by Henry Rodriguez and Justin Davies who finished with two hits apiece. Rodriguez’ night was highlighted by a two-run home run in the third inning.

 

The Long Island Ducks, 2004 Atlantic League champions, play their home games at Citibank Park and are in their sixth season of play in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.
