Red Sox standouts Rafael Devers and Andrew Benintendi were today named among the 11 MLB players selected to the Topps All-Star Rookie Team.

The left fielder Benintendi, 22, slashed .271/.352/.424 in his first full season with the Red Sox, lacing 20 home runs and driving in 90. The fan favorite made up one third of perhaps the game’s best defensive outfield and possiby the best in team history.

The third baseman Devers came up for the final two months of the season, but had a huge impact, slashing .284/.338/.482, including a memorable game-tying, ninth-inning home run against Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman in an eventual Red Sox win on August 13 in New York. The 20-year-old Devers also had 10 home runs and 30 RBI in 240 plate appearances, filling a major hole at the hot corner for Boston.

“This is one of the most impressive Topps MLB All-Star Rookie Team classes I have seen,” said David Leiner, Vice President and General Manager of Topps North American Sports & Entertainment. “It shows how incredibly popular baseball was this year with its young breakout stars. They join an incredible group of players who have won the Topps Rookie Cup in the past and will have the special logo appear on their Topps trading cards next season.”
